3. Add a Belt
Not JUST a belt though, you wanna add a unique belt. The belt needs to match the vibe, for example: country style- western style belt, y2k style- buckle glam belt, indie style- colourful belt. There’s so much you can do with this!
4. Capsule Wardrobe
What are you doing if you don’t have your capsule wardrobe on point in 2024? I bet you have NOTHING to wear, cause same! Until I developed my capsule wardrobe which we are going to develop now, no more procrastinating.
5. Drop the Sneakers
Sneakers have been marinated, they’ve been around for so long. I’m not saying they’re bad, but if you want to stand-out please pop them away for a minute. Instead of sneakers opt for a boot or heel.
6. Pattern and Texture?
Playing with pattern and texture can feel difficult, but it doesn’t have to be. Some common textures are snake, fur, waffle and ribbed. Some popular combos are velvet+silk, Boucle + Denim and Jersey + Denim.
7. Show Skin Strategically
Perfecting proportions isn’t just for clothes but for what’s not clothed. It’s important to understand this but it’s also important to ignore this at times (all in moderation). For a more modest look, take what applies but some things to keep in mind:
- If your chest is out – long skirt
- When wearing a turtleneck – short skirt
- Wearing short shorts – cover your belly button
- Long pants + long sleeve top – crop top
8. Button-Up Tops
Button-up tops are well known to be stylish BUT when do we ever actually see it? If you’re truly struggling to style your bottoms then that’s when it’s time to add your fitted button-up top. This top doesn’t just have to be a blouse, it can be a long/short sleeve top or have buttons on the sleeves etc
9. Hem Your Pants for Shoes
What is the point of wearing a cute shoe, if theres no attention on it or rather, they’re covered up. Heming your pants to give your shoes their moment is NOT done enough!

Kitten heels bring practicality to any outfit that needs a heel. For those who are unaware of kitten heels and what they are firstly, where have you been?

Need to wear a plain outfit? it’s ok you can still style this. Adding a scarf over the top of a plain outfit is perfect, especially when it comes to work and rigid dress codes. Having a removable accessory like this can really come in handy when it comes to accessorising.
12. Layer your Jewellery

A comfort jacket is more than just a jacket that you love, it can be a jacket that saves you on a bad dress day. A big piece of jewellery is the perfect eye catcher for a more simple outfit. I would be weary of adding this to an outfit that already has a lot going on but chunky jewellery is definitely something you should own.

17. Monochromatic Colour Choice
Going for a monochromatic colour pallette for your outfits can make something go from boring to eye catching. Experimenting with shades and tones can truly elevate your styling abilities.

Neautrals are similar to monochramatic looks but are more subtle and can be seen as more chic. Some great colours to try are beige and greys

We have all heard of having a statement piece but this needs to be scaled over time. Your statement piece is supposed to be the piece that draws your outfit in and catches the everyday eye. But without throwing away your iconic statement piece, you could accessorise this piece by adding a bag charm, fun pin, hair clips, extra charms etc)
21. If it’s Trending it’s a NO
Fitting in with the current trends is not the way you wanna go if you’re trying to improve your style. You’re never going to stand out if you are constantly chasing the next trending item. If you’re a lover of trends I encourage you to be a late-bloomer. It’s better to be giving throwback than copycat.
22. Layers
Before you lose interest at this generic advice I want to preface by saying layers are NOT just for winter. In 2024 we’ve seen countless sheer and lace items trending. I’m not gonna go out and say I LOVE the lace and sheer trend because it’s hard to pull off but my favourite way to see lace is in layers. Some examples of layers you can add to an everyday outfit (on a warmer day)
23. Mix High-End With Low End
Splurging on items is worthwhile but we have to make up for it somewhere. What’s the point of wearing an outfit worth $2000 one day and $20 the next? To get lifetime wear on our high-end items we need to stretch them out and truly enjoy them on our day-to-day.
24. Loose Fit but NOT Oversized
Oversized was a huge thing in 2021, but oversized has slowly died down. We had the vision during this era but we slightly missed. The trick is loose but not oversized, we saw this rise in the 90s with the low-rise skirts, they sat loosly on the body but didn’t look “too big” for you.

45. Top Over A Dress
Similar to the previous tip, wearing a top over your dress can elevate an outfit significantly. Alternatively, to the previous tip, a top is going to be more tight fitted, I think this tip is best done with long sleeve tops however, you can do any depending on the dress you pair it with. If you want to take this to the next level, I’d try an assymetical top.

In winter opt for a trench coat rather than a puffer jacket. Puffer jackets are everywhere and overdone. While trench coats are common they are generally unique to each other and can be styled and there are many different styling options.

Similar to the previous fashion tips, a way to wear your clothing pieces specifically a dress if the perfect way to re-purpose an outfit. The key to doing this is matching textures i.e. linen dress=linen button up. You can always change textures but this becomes more tricky as from the back the key is to have the two items blend.

Alternative to the glasses talked about earlier in the article, sunglasses are super fun to play around with in styling your outfits. They can match your statement colour or can serve as a statement piece itself.

Not commonly seen but hair cuffs are a piece of jewellery in itself. If you’re a lover of low ponys or basic hairstyles then adding a hair cuff might be for you.
51. Lack of Jewellery
With the rise of chunky jewellery and maximalism, wearing no jewellery can actually turn out to be more unique. It can serve as a expensive and clean look but we still need to accessorise.
