9 90’s Girls: A Look Into the Minimalist Style of the 90’s

Leaving the bright colors and big hair of the 80’s, the 90’s came and created timeless looks and
trends we see even now. A key style that came from the 90’s, and one of my personal favorites is
the “90’s minimalism.”

Sleek, elegant looks, using neutral colors and focusing on shapes accentuating the body’s
length. Denim jackets, slip dresses, and many more are staple pieces to achieve these looks.

Below you will find a list of 9 girls from the 90’s, who’s fashion continues to amaze
others, and a look from them that embodies this style.

1) Winona Ryder

The movie star wore an oversized blazer and matching brown pants set to the 1991 movie Little Man Tate premiere. Menswear like this became highly popular in the 1990s and can be seen in many celebrities’ looks. This simple but fashionable look has carried itself through the decades, and any celebrity can wear it on a red carpet now.

Similar to Winona’s menswear style look, Gwyneth Paltrow rocked a red Gucci velvet suit to the MTV Awards in 1996. In 1995 Drew Barrymore attended the Batman Forever premiere, in two thrift store-bought slip dresses. This style of dresses became a widely popular choice of clothing in the 90s. 6) Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy

Maybe not so much an everyday look, but no doubt Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy changed the game for wedding dresses in her 1996 marriage to John F. Kennedy Jr. (Photo via Vanity Fair) Dress designed by Narciso Rodriguez, whom she met during her time working at Calvin Klein.
She showed that there is beauty in the simple elegance of a slip dress such as this, and she did not need something loud and over the top to make a lasting fashion statement.

Last but certainly not least the incredibly talented Nicole Kidman’s look for the Eyes Wide Shut 1999 premiere. In a matching red set made of silk, a fabric that seems to have been a major trend through the decade. This beautiful set is

about, and what made them so timeless and
special.
